Delhi's Crackdown on Firecrackers: A Battle for Clean Air

Delhi's crackdown on illegal firecrackers has led to the seizure of 19,005 kg of the banned items, following vigorous raids across the city. The sweeping measures come as part of efforts to ensure clean air during Diwali, with 79 cases registered against violators to date.
Under the directive of Environment Minister Gopal Rai, 377 teams from the Delhi Police and the Revenue Department are actively enforcing the ban. These efforts aim to protect the city's air quality, severely affected during the winter months.
The Delhi government has also launched a 'Diya Jalao, Patakha Nahi' campaign to encourage residents to comply with the firecracker ban, which remains in effect until January 1, 2025.
