Fast-Tracking Jammu's New Legislative Assembly: An 18-Month Countdown

Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather has issued a firm 18-month deadline for the Roads and Buildings Department to complete the new legislative assembly in Jammu, the winter capital.

The ambitious construction project, which commenced in 2011, has suffered multiple delays over the past decade. To expedite progress, Rather chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials, stressing the urgency of initiating construction following the tendering process.

An official spokesperson reported that the project's detailed report awaits approval from IIT Jammu. Once this vetting is received, the tendering process will commence, with final preparations to be completed by March 31.
