Himachal Pradesh is currently experiencing intensified cold wave conditions as widespread moderate to heavy rains lash several parts of the state. On higher altitudes, light to moderate snowfall has been reported, altering the landscape significantly. This fresh spell of rain and snow has brought a sense of joy to residents, agriculture, and the tourism sector.

Authorities in the Lahaul and Spiti district have issued warnings to tourists, noting that National Highway No. 3, especially the stretch from the Atal Rohtang Tunnel's north portal to Keylong and Jispa, is covered in two feet of snow. This makes the route completely inaccessible, leading to its closure to all types of vehicles.

The Meteorological station in the region expects light to moderate rain or snow in isolated areas, with occasional heavy spells. A new Western Disturbance is anticipated to affect the state from February 24, likely impacting weather from February 26 to March 1. Minimum temperatures have plummeted, reaching minus 11.2 degrees in Tabo. The forecast indicates further potential temperature declines and a yellow warning has been issued for thunderstorm and fog in specific areas.
