Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar unveiled ambitious plans to transform Mumbai's economic landscape in the latest state budget. By 2047, the city aims to boost its economy from USD 140 billion to USD 1.5 trillion through the establishment of seven international-standard business centres.

The proposed business hubs will strategically be located in Bandra-Kurla Complex, Kurla-Worli area, Wadala, Goregaon, Navi Mumbai, Kharghar, and Virar-Bhoisar. These centers are part of a larger plan to position Mumbai Metropolitan Region as a premier international growth hub.

Expanding the city's infrastructure is central to this vision, including the development of the Vadhavan port, expected to handle 300 million metric tonnes of cargo annually by 2030. Additional projects include a new metro line connecting Mumbai's airports, the enhancement of Nagpur's Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, and the initiation of passenger services at Amravati airport by month's end.
