In a tragic wildlife encounter, a 33-year-old man named Vijayakumar was killed by a wild elephant near the Sembakkarai tribal village in Nilgiris district, as reported by the forest department on Monday.
The incident occurred on Sunday night while Vijayakumar and his friend Ravi were returning home. The elephant's sudden attack claimed Vijayakumar's life, though Ravi managed to escape unharmed.
Coonoor Forest Officer Ravindranath and his team promptly arrived at the scene, recovered Vijayakumar's body, and arranged for its transfer to Coonoor Government Hospital for a postmortem examination. The forest department, in collaboration with the police, has launched an investigation into the incident.
