Nehru Park could soon transform into Delhi's inaugural 'clean air zone' with the proposed installation of 150 outdoor air purifiers, contingent on receiving support from 80-90% of residents.
The Delhi Pollution Control Committee commenced a three-day public survey in the park to understand citizen sentiment toward the initiative. Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa emphasized that local residents are integral to the decision-making process.
Air purifiers will be positioned throughout the 85-acre park, targeting improved air quality amid Delhi's notorious winter pollution. The project's success hinges on resident approval and municipal clearances, alongside collaboration with a private firm under a corporate social responsibility agreement.
