Impact was severe; debris-laden water surged through Sukati drains, affecting a five-kilometer radius, notably Jail Road, Saini Mohalla, and the Zonal hospital area. Deputy Commissioner Apoorva Devgan reported ongoing rescue missions having already saved 15-20 individuals.
Further distress arose as rains and landslides disrupted major highways, cut power, and posed community hazards. The recent disaster exacerbates ongoing monsoon challenges, with state losses nearing Rs 1523 crore since June, affecting lives, infrastructure, and essential services.
