A horrifying accident claimed nine lives after a pickup vehicle plunged into the Sirhind canal this week. The tragedy unfolded as the passengers were returning from the Mata Naina Devi temple in Himachal Pradesh.
The latest body recovered was identified as Kesar Singh from Maan Kheri village in the Malerkotla district, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hemant Malhotra. One person remains missing as search efforts continue.
The accident was believed to have occurred after the driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to overtake another car at the canal bank, resulting in a deadly plunge that claimed the lives of four women and three children.
