Tropical Storm Gil has formed in the eastern Pacific Ocean and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane over open waters without threatening land. Currently, it is located south-southwest of Mexico's Baja California peninsula, moving west with no coastal warnings in effect.

An emerging tropical storm named Gil has developed over the eastern Pacific Ocean, poised to escalate into a hurricane, according to forecasts released on Thursday.

The Miami-based US National Hurricane Center announced that Gil, currently positioned approximately 1,263 kilometers south-southwest of Mexico's Baja California peninsula, is expected to intensify while remaining over open waters.

With wind speeds reaching 72 kph and a westward trajectory at 24 kph, the storm prompts no immediate maritime alerts or warnings, as it is predicted to veer west-northwest in the coming days.
