In a tragic incident in Jharkhand's Palamu district, three women were killed by a lightning strike while sowing paddy saplings. The devastating event took place in Jolhabigha village, as confirmed by local police.
Lesliganj SDPO Manoj Kumar Jha reported that the women, identified as Okida Khatun, Reshmi Bibi, and Rajvi Bibi, were working in a field near their residence when the lightning struck, resulting in instant fatalities.
Authorities have responded to the tragedy, with Palamu Deputy Commissioner Sameera S announcing a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the families of each victim. This incident adds to 18 recent lightning-related fatalities in the district, raising concerns about safety measures.
