In a bid to enhance infrastructure and environmental sustainability, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann laid the foundation for a new sewerage treatment plant near Jalandhar on Thursday, according to officials. The project is set at Dera Sachkhand Ballan, a place with significant religious and social influence.

The treatment plant, designed to handle 0.5 million litres per day, is estimated to conclude within 12 months with a budget of Rs 3.4 crore. Chief Minister Mann, acknowledging the area's social contributions, emphasized the project's potential impact on sanitation, environmental health, and water recycling efforts.

This initiative caters to the needs of devotees visiting Dera Sachkhand Ballan, a hub for followers of Guru Ravidass's teachings. Additionally, it underlines the Punjab government's commitment to sustainable development through improved sanitation and efficient water management systems.
