The vital Bailey bridge along the Gangotri National Highway is on the brink of completion, poised to reconnect the disaster-hit areas of Uttarkashi. This infrastructure will streamline food supply to affected populations, according to officials.
Authorities, under Home Secretary Shailesh Bagauli's direction, are ensuring the daily delivery of 2,000 litres of diesel to Dharali and the transportation of LPG cylinders. In addition, horses and mules are being utilized to ensure the continuous flow of essential supplies until road repair and operationalization.
Despite adverse weather conditions hindering helicopter evacuations, over 1,000 people have been safely relocated as of Saturday. The search for missing individuals in flood-ravaged areas persists, aided by SDRF personnel equipped with sniffer dogs and advanced technology such as thermal cameras.
