Goa's Bold Move: PPP Projects Worth Rs 2,500 Crore Approved

The Goa cabinet has approved seven development projects, valued at Rs 2,500 crore, to be executed via Public Private Partnership (PPP). This approach is expected to expedite project completion without burdening state funds. The projects include redevelopment and construction initiatives in Panaji and Vasco.

The Goa cabinet made a significant decision on Monday by approving seven development initiatives collectively worth Rs 2,500 crore. These projects will operate under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) framework, a move aimed at accelerating completion while alleviating the financial load on state reserves.

Following the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant indicated the strategic choice of PPP would facilitate faster project execution and reduce the necessity for government expenditure. Key projects listed in the plan include the redevelopment of Junta House and Circuit House in Panaji, and the construction of a new Prashasan Stambh near the city.

Additional projects involve reconstructing government quarters at St Inez, Panaji, a government garage, and a new bus stand for the Kadamba Transport Corporation in Vasco. The National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) will spearhead these under PPP, with work commencing within the next fortnight.
