A tragic incident unfolded in Maharashtra's Pune district as a five-year-old girl was killed in a leopard attack, sparking urgent demands from locals for preventive actions. The attack occurred when Shivanya Shailesh Bombe was taking water to her grandfather working at their family farm.
Authorities reported the event took place near the family's home in Pimparkhed village, Shirur tehsil. The leopard, lurking nearby, attacked the child, dragging her into a field. Despite nearby workers scaring the animal away, Shivanya succumbed to severe neck injuries at the hospital.
The death has enraged local residents, highlighting an ongoing issue of leopard-human conflict in the area. In response, the forest department intensified their operations, setting up multiple cages in an effort to capture the animal, and reported success in capturing a leopard soon after.
