In a significant scientific breakthrough, Arunachal Pradesh has unveiled the discovery of a new plant species, Hoya dawodiensis, in the biodiversity-rich yet remote Vijoynagar region, located in the state's Changlang district.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced this milestone on social media, celebrating it as a 'remarkable chapter' in the state's flourishing botanical research field. The discovery underscores Vijoynagar's unexplored yet biologically rich landscape, known for its challenging accessibility that requires air travel or extensive treks.
Complementing this discovery, the researchers also identified Hoya yingjiangensis for the first time in India, enhancing the country's known floral diversity.
