Cold wave conditions have taken hold in parts of Jharkhand, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reporting Gumla as the state's coldest region at a chilling 3 degrees Celsius.

A cold wave alert has been announced for 11 districts as of Friday, encompassing Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, and several others, with the alert in place until 8:30 am on Sunday.

The temperature drop is driven by prevailing north-westerly winds, and while a further dip by 2 degrees Celsius is expected in the coming 48 hours, temperatures might increase by two to three degrees Celsius thereafter.
