The historic move of translocating a tigress from Madhya Pradesh to Rajasthan marks a significant step in wildlife conservation efforts in India. This ambitious project, which is the second inter-state tiger relocation, seeks to strengthen the genetic diversity among local tiger populations.
In a coordinated operation, multiple forest teams have been dispatched to capture and monitor the tigress. After locating and tranquilizing her, a radio-collar was fitted to track and analyze her movements. This detailed monitoring comes as part of preparations sanctioned by national wildlife authorities.
Officials view this project as a remedy to inbreeding issues within tiger reserves. Despite past setbacks with similar initiatives, ex-wildlife warden Prithvi Singh Rajawat believes this move will enhance tiger numbers and vitality, though he stresses the need for further protective measures.
