Kashmir's night temperatures have risen but continue to remain below the freezing point, officials reported on Sunday.

The Pahalgam resort in south Kashmir, which acts as the base camp for the annual Amarnath yatra, recorded the lowest temperature at minus 4.3 degrees Celsius, marking it as the coldest area in Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar, the summer capital, saw a rise in minimum temperature to minus 0.9 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Qazigund and Kupwara recorded lows of minus 1 and minus 0.8 degrees Celsius respectively, while Kokernag stood at 1.1 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg and Pulwama saw temperatures of minus 1.6 and minus 3.8 degrees Celsius. The meteorological department forecasts generally cloudy but dry weather on December 6-7, with chances of light snowfall in isolated high-altitude regions on December 8.
