The Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve has joined forces with Western Coalfields Limited by signing a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at executing the 'Zero Waste Tadoba' initiative. This ambitious circular economy model is targeted at upgrading waste management and sanitation systems.

Prabhu Nath Shukla, the field director of TATR, emphasized the importance of this community-led conservation project. It aims to combat the mounting pressure of non-biodegradable waste, especially in the area's buffer and fringe villages affected by increasing eco-tourism.

The project plans to implement a systematic approach to waste collection and segregation. By 2026, household-level segregation, recycling, composting, and scientific disposal are expected to be operational across four new clusters: Ashta, Zari, Shioni, and Somnath, covering the entire buffer zone.
