A leopard caused chaos in Nagpur's residential Shiv Nagar area, attacking and injuring seven people on Wednesday morning, according to local officials.
The forestry department was alerted to the leopard's presence, prompting immediate action to diffuse the panic it caused among residents. Deputy Conservator of Forests, Dr. Vinita Vyas, confirmed that between five and seven individuals had sustained injuries during the ordeal.
Upon arrival, forest department and wildlife treatment teams tranquilized and safely captured the leopard, ensuring no further risk to the public. All injured individuals were transported to a hospital for necessary treatment. Notably, this marks the second recent leopard sighting in the area.
