An Australian boy is fighting for his life following a shark attack in Sydney's harbour, authorities announced on Monday.

The incident occurred when the young boy, aged 12 or 13, was jumping off rocks with friends at a beach in Vaucluse, just 9 kilometers from the CBD, when he was bitten by a shark.

Heavy rainfall had created suitable conditions for sharks, drawing them into the harbour. Emergency services quickly intervened, but the child sustained severe leg injuries and remains in critical condition.
