Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Monday inaugurated a groundbreaking environmental park within the Siruseri IT Park complex, spearheaded by SIPCOT. Located in Chengalpattu district, the project involved a Rs 30 crore investment aimed at transforming the previously neglected 33.43-acre Navalur lake.
The extensive restoration included desilting and strengthening lake embankments to ensure the long-term environmental sustainability of the IT hub and its surrounding areas. Additionally, new green infrastructure was introduced, featuring walking and cycling tracks, an environmental knowledge centre, and a bird-watching point. The facility also boasts an open-air theatre, outdoor gym, and a sewage treatment plant to enhance groundwater recharge.
