At least 14 migrants lost their lives when an inflatable boat collided with a Turkish coast guard vessel in the waters off Antalya's southern coast. The tragic incident occurred early Monday, when the migrant boat was detected near Finike district.
According to a coast guard statement, the high-speed boat attempted to evade authorities despite multiple warnings to halt. The pursuit ended when the boat crashed into a coast guard vessel, drawing attention to the perilous migration routes and the need for stringent monitoring.
Rescue operations succeeded in saving six migrants and one Turkish individual. Sadly, 14 were found dead, and 15 others were detained upon reaching land after continuing their journey.
