A satellite-collared tiger, which had previously roamed around the Yeleru reservoir in Polavaram district, has now made its way into the Rajavommangi forest range in Rampachodavaram division, according to a statement from the forest department on Monday.

The three-year-old male tiger was initially captured on February 6 in Kurmapuram village, East Godavari district, after entering human settlements, causing alarm among local villagers due to earlier cattle predations. The tiger underwent medical examination and was observed at the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in Visakhapatnam before being released into Papikondalu National Park.

Authorities continue to monitor the tiger closely through satellite collar data, field-level tracking of pugmarks, and Very High Frequency (VHF) signals, ensuring safety and conservation through organized operations. Residents near forested areas have been urged to report any wildlife sightings to officials promptly.
