Arunachal Pradesh is seeing a wave of new infrastructure projects as Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced the construction of arterial roads across townships and villages. This effort is part of the CM's Comprehensive State Rural Development Programme (CMCSRDP), a key initiative aimed at bolstering rural infrastructure and improving local livelihoods.
During a Question Hour session, the condition of roads in Khonsa, the administrative center of Tirap district, was brought into focus. Senior BJP MLA Wanglin Lowangdong pointed out the lack of proper road construction and maintenance over the past 30-40 years. In response, Khandu detailed the government's active measures, stating that with the exception of areas affected by flash floods in October 2024, most roads are in good condition.
The Chief Minister confirmed that Rs 28.04 crore has been allocated for the upgradation of Khonsa's arterial roads under CMCSRDP-II. The initiative underscores the government's commitment to prioritizing road infrastructure development, promising periodic maintenance as handled by the Public Works Department.
