A devastating fire erupted in a three-storey house in Indore after an explosion at an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging point, resulting in the tragic death of eight family members, including two minors. The incident, occurring early Wednesday morning, has prompted the Madhya Pradesh government to launch a comprehensive investigation.

State officials, alarmed by the fatal incident, plan to form a committee of experts to delve into the root causes and develop a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) aimed at ensuring safer EV charging practices. The fire, exacerbated by additional explosions from cooking gas cylinders inside the house, claimed lives across three generations of the same family.

Madhya Pradesh's Urban Development Minister, Kailash Vijayvargiya, highlighted the urgent need to address structural and safety concerns, as electric vehicles gain popularity amid rising oil prices. Discussions with local resident associations are planned to improve safety and access in crowded neighborhoods.
