In a visionary move to enhance urban commute, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde unveiled plans for an ambitious pod taxi project in Thane city. Set to improve last-mile connectivity, the pod taxi service features automated, driverless electric vehicles on elevated tracks.

The project stands alongside other major initiatives like the Metro and Coastal Road, aiming to bring fast, modern transport solutions to Thane residents. The foundation stone for the pod taxi service, located in Ghodbunder, will be laid shortly, Shinde announced.

Besides transport advances, Shinde expressed gratitude to the municipal body for renovating the press room at Thane Municipal Corporation headquarters, acknowledging journalists' efforts during crises like COVID-19. Despite urban growth, Thane retains significant greenery, he noted.
