Thane civic chief undertakes inspection of areas in municipal bus

Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao on Tuesday conducted a pre-monsoon inspection of Ghodbunder Road by traveling in a civic transport bus. He was accompanied by senior officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), Public Works Department (PWD), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and Metro rail. During the exercise, Rao set a deadline of May 30 for the completion of all ongoing repair and infrastructure works to ensure smooth traffic during the rainy season. The inspection covered points, including Eastern Express Highway, Kapurbawdi Junction, Manpada Bridge, Brahmand Chowk, Kasarvadavali and Gaimukh Ghat. The commissioner directed immediate action on incomplete works, such as the Amrit Jalvahini project, concreting under metro pillars, and service road merging. During the drive, Rao ordered immediate concretisation of side shoulders at Gaimukh Chowpatty and the relocation of electric poles and water pipelines that obstruct road merging. He also directed deep cleaning of main drains and culverts to prevent waterlogging on arterial roadsm removal of encroachments on footpaths to facilitate pedestrian movement. Rao emphasized that all systems must work in coordination to avoid traffic congestion.
