The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has issued urgent orders to identify and dismantle buildings and walls at risk of collapse after a series of heavy rainstorms caused widespread damage in the city.

Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar's directive follows a tragic incident at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital where a compound wall fell, resulting in seven fatalities, including a child.

Commissioners and additional commissioners of city corporations are instructed to monitor potentially hazardous structures and form teams comprising fire services and police to take preventive action. Recent assessments have already led to demolitions of unsafe structures in affected areas.
