Residents of Chandigarh and parts of Punjab and Haryana faced a rough Sunday as a storm with heavy rain hit the region, leading to a substantial drop in temperatures. However, the severe weather conditions resulted in widespread power outages, uprooted trees, and road blockages.
In Chandigarh, strong winds and a dust storm added to the morning chaos. Power interruptions started as early as 6 a.m. in areas like Mohali and BBMB substations, impacting the city's power supply. Quick action by authorities ensured power restoration within a couple of hours.
Meanwhile, in Hoshiarpur, an industrialist was injured due to falling poles during the storm, highlighting the incident's severity. Despite extensive damage, restoration teams worked diligently under challenging conditions to repair and maintain the electricity network throughout the affected areas.
