Delhi's Summer Strategy: Maximizing Water Output at All Major Treatment Plants

Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that all major water treatment plants will operate at peak capacity during the summer to address the capital's water shortages. The government is focused on both immediate and long-term solutions, including augmenting water supply and ensuring efficient operations and monitoring.

In an effort to tackle the recurring water shortages during the summer months, Delhi will ensure all major water treatment plants operate at their maximum capacity, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated on Monday. A comprehensive summer action plan has been laid out to maintain consistent water supply throughout the capital.

During a recent review meeting, Gupta emphasized the importance of both immediate relief and sustainable, long-term solutions to end Delhi's periodic drinking water crisis. She urged Delhi Jal Board officials to guarantee that water management is at its peak and all supply gaps are promptly addressed.

The government has tightened oversight and monitoring to bolster water availability, including augmenting supply from the WTP in Dwarka. Additionally, coordination with Haryana is crucial to manage ammonia levels in raw water, ensuring uninterrupted plant operations. A fleet of water tankers is also prepared to serve water-scarce areas in the city.
