Pramod Sawant Expedites Tar-Moira River Enhancement Ahead of Monsoon

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inspected the Tar-Moira river project in North Goa, focused on flood control and irrigation enhancement. Sawant, with Water Resources Department officials, urged rapid desilting and removal of bottlenecks to ensure smooth flow. Temporary embankment measures were also advised for unfinished areas.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has proactively assessed the ongoing improvement works of the Tar-Moira river waterway in North Goa. Aimed at controlling floods and enhancing irrigation, this critical project seeks to bolster agricultural water supply and mitigate flood risks.

Sawant, accompanied by officials from the Water Resources Department, visited Mapusa town to expedite progress. During his visit, he directed officials to focus on swift desilting and the elimination of bottlenecks, particularly at culvert locations under the highway bridge and Tar bridge.

The significance of this project lies in its potential to stabilize water flow and improve agricultural irrigation. Temporary protective measures for embankments were also recommended to prevent flooding until permanent solutions are implemented.
