Bihar's Bold Move: World Bank Loan Fuels Urban Development
The Bihar Cabinet approved a USD 500 million loan from the World Bank to enhance urban centers and develop economic zones. Additional measures include airport expansion, eBus operations, and erosion control projects. In a strategic move to bolster urban growth, the Bihar Cabinet has approved a USD 500 million loan from the World Bank. This funding is set to steer the state towards organized urbanization and climate-sensitive development.
The cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, also facilitated various infrastructure and developmental projects. Notably, 1.85 acres of BIADA land will be transferred to the Airports Authority of India to expedite the expansion of Patna airport. Additionally, a significant cash gap subsidy increase supports the state's electric bus services.
Further measures include the maintenance of extensive road networks using advanced technology and key erosion control initiatives along the Ganga. Educational and institutional agreements have been extended, while the introduction of an e-voting system aims to improve inclusivity in elections.
