The Delhi Forest Department has announced a monumental plantation drive scheduled for June. This initiative, which is a segment of the Green Action Plan, aims to plant approximately five lakh saplings across the capital.
The department's mission is focused on restoring green spaces in areas impacted by urbanization. As of now, 1,060 potential sites have been identified for the plantation activities, including road stretches, institutions, and other suitable public lands.
A 'green war room' is proposed to ensure seamless execution, coordinating with multiple agencies and monitoring the plantation's progress in real-time. This effort is particularly critical to address Delhi's pollution challenges and intense summer heat.
