Orange alert for hailstorm, thunderstorm in parts of Himachal on May 12-13
The Indian Meteorological Department here on Sunday issued an orange warning of hailstorm, thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40-60 kmph at isolated places in three to four districts on May 12 and May 13. The alerts were issued for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts on Tuesday and for Kullu, Mandi and Shimla on Wednesday.

The Indian Meteorological Department here on Sunday issued an orange warning of hailstorm, thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40-60 kmph at isolated places in three to four districts on May 12 and May 13. The alerts were issued for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts on Tuesday and for Kullu, Mandi and Shimla on Wednesday. Dry weather prevailed in the state during the past 24 hours since Saturday evening, while the MeT office predicted a west spell in Himachal Pradesh till Saturday. Keylong was the coldest at night, recording a low of 5.4 degrees Celsius, while Una was the hottest during the day with a high of 37.2 degrees Celsius. During the ongoing pre-monsoon season from March 1 to May 10, Himachal Pradesh received 179.2 mm of rainfall against the normal of 199.4 mm, registering a deficit of 10 per cent, the MeT office added.
