Mumbai Braces for Water Cut Amid Declining Reservoir Levels

The decision comes amid forecasts from the India Meteorological Department predicting below-normal monsoon conditions due to El Nino and Indian Ocean Dipole patterns. This initiative aims to manage the city's water resources strategically and ensure long-term water supply.

On May 11, Mumbai's seven reservoirs reported a water stock of 340,399 million litres, only 23.52% of the annual requirement. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is urging citizens to conserve water and avoid unnecessary wastage, emphasizing that there is no need to panic as the situation is being closely monitored.
