Sunkind India to Commence Solar Module Production in Rajasthan

Sunkind India is set to enter the solar module manufacturing sector with a new facility in Jaipur. They have invested Rs 1,200-1,500 crore for solar cells and expect commercial operations to begin shortly, aligning with government mandates to use domestically-produced cells.

Sunkind India is expanding its operations by venturing into solar module manufacturing. The company has announced that it will begin commercial production at its newly established 1 GW facility near Jaipur, Rajasthan, next month.

This move involves an investment of Rs 1,200-1,500 crore for sourcing solar cells, marking a significant step for the company which currently focuses on EPC and IPP projects in the commercial and industrial segments.

Sunkind's Managing Director, Hanish Gupta, highlighted the strategic decision to produce modules internally, ensuring alignment with government regulations like ALMM-II which require India-made cells. A supply agreement has been secured with a domestic manufacturer, promising a steady supply of the necessary components.

Gupta, citing confidentiality, declined to reveal the supplier but stressed the importance of this agreement for consistent production. With this initiative, Sunkind India aims to further solidify its position in the renewable energy market while supporting national industry standards.
