These limits coincide with increased Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian refineries, notably one damaging Gazprom Neft's Moscow refinery. This situation impacts fuel availability and pricing in the region.

Tatneft Tightens the Pump: Fuel Sales Restricted Amidst Drone Strikes

Russian oil producer Tatneft is implementing restrictions on petrol and diesel sales at all of its stations across the country, Interfax has reported.

The company stated via its hotline that these limitations are temporary, and that only cash payments will be accepted. Tatneft, ranked as Russia's fifth-largest oil company, has numerous fuel stations nationwide, including a significant presence in the Moscow region. The company has not officially commented on the report.

Meanwhile, Moscow's mayor announced earlier that a facility at the Gazprom Neft-owned Moscow oil refinery was recently damaged in a drone attack attributed to Ukraine. Emergency services have since reported that the resulting fire has been extinguished and operations remain unaffected. Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian refineries have doubled since the start of 2026, disrupting oil processing and reducing gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel production.
