Trump Urges Russia-Ukraine Peace Amidst G7 Conversations
At a G7 summit in France, U.S. President Donald Trump urged Russia to make peace with Ukraine. Following a meeting with world leaders, he expressed support for Ukraine's position in negotiations. European diplomats aim to align U.S. diplomacy on Ukraine and Iran's nuclear deals with their priorities.
In a move aimed at fostering peace, U.S. President Donald Trump announced at the recent G7 summit in France that Russia should seek a peace agreement with Ukraine. The statement came after Trump held a "very good" meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and other G7 leaders.
During the June 15-17 summit in Evian-les-Bains, Trump highlighted a preliminary deal concerning Iran and voiced renewed commitment to resolving the Ukraine conflict. He praised discussions with Zelenskiy and expressed readiness to support a peace process.
European diplomats, viewing the meeting as constructive, are working to reshape Trump's stance on past U.S. positions toward Ukraine. They argue Ukraine's recent military gains necessitate stronger support in negotiations with Moscow.
