Rangers to decide starting goalie in camp

"This is such an uncertain time that that will play out over the course of the two-and-a-half weeks that we're going to have before we drop the puck." The 38-year-old Lundqvist was 3-0-0 with a .947 save percentage and 2.33 goals-against average this season against the Hurricanes.

New York Rangers coach David Quinn will wait until after camp to determine his starting goalie for the Stanley Cup Qualifiers. "You can make a case for all three guys," Quinn said Wednesday of Henrik Lundqvist, Igor Shesterkin and Alexandar Georgiev, according to NHL.com.

Quinn said he will name a Game 1 starter for the best-of-five series against the Carolina Hurricanes after watching all three take the ice for several practices and scrimmages. Training camp is scheduled to begin July 10.

"There's a lot of reasons to take 'Shesty,' there's a lot of reasons to start Hank and there's reasons to start 'Georgie,'" Quinn said. "This is such an uncertain time that that will play out over the course of the two-and-a-half weeks that we're going to have before we drop the puck." The 38-year-old Lundqvist was 3-0-0 with a .947 save percentage and 2.33 goals-against average this season against the Hurricanes. For the season, he is 10-12-3 with a .905 save percentage and 3.16 GAA.

Shesterkin, a 24-year-old rookie, posted a 10-2-0 record with a .932 save percentage and 2.52 GAA this season, including 27 saves in a 5-2 win at Carolina on Feb. 21. Georgiev, also 24, was 17-14-2 with a .910 save percentage and a 3.04 GAA, but did not make any starts against the Canes.
