Rangers 3B Beltre injures hamstring for third time in 2018

Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has been ruled out of Tuesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks due to a left hamstring injury and could be headed back to the disabled list.

Beltre suffered the latest injury on Monday while he was scoring a run in the eighth inning against the Diamondbacks. He appeared to suffer the injury after rounding third base.

"I don't get any indication that it's going to be anything long-term at this point," Banister said. "But again, still reserve the right to let it kind of settle down for a couple of days and see where we're at after that."

Beltre recorded career hit No. 3,137 during Monday's 5-3 win. He is four behind 19th-place Tony Gwynn on the all-time list.

The four-time All-Star is batting .278 with seven homers and 41 RBIs this season. But he has been limited to 86 games due to the injuries.

In addition to this season's hamstring woes, Beltre served DL stints last season due to calf and hamstring injuries.

"It doesn't matter if you're 28 or 38, hamstrings are such that once you've done them once, they can be recurring," Banister said. "It seems like he's managed it very well to this point. It's one of those situations, he got a great read last night, he was feeling good, and came around third base, and felt a little bit. So no real rhyme or reason."
