Boston Red Sox star Mookie Betts left Sunday's game against the New York Mets at Fenway Park with what the team announced was left side soreness.
Betts fielded Wilmer Flores' fly ball to right field and made an accurate throw home to try to throw out Austin Jackson, who slid in safely for a run.
The Red Sox challenged the call, which was upheld. After the review, the 25-year-old Betts was pulled out of the game following a trip to the outfield by manager Alex Cora and the trainer.
In June, Betts missed 14 games with a left abdominal strain.
Betts, a three-time All-Star, entered the day leading the American League in batting at .338. He has 29 home runs and 71 RBIs on the season, along with 42 doubles, five triples, and 28 stolen bases.
