For the Carolina Panthers, another day meant another player lost to injury.
On Friday, multiple outlets reported that the Panthers placed starting safety Da'Norris Searcy on injured reserve following his second concussion in five weeks.
Searcy, 29, was injured in Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The Panthers (1-1), who have not signed a player to replace Searcy on the roster that's currently at 52, expect to have rookie Rashann Gaulden and veteran Colin Jones split time at that position during Sunday's home game against Cincinnati (2-0).
Searcy was also injured in Carolina's preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Aug. 17 and entered the concussion protocol.
Other Carolina players who have been hurt and are on injured reserve include cornerback Ross Cockrell (broken leg in training camp) and starting offensive tackles Matt Kalil and Daryl Williams (both knee injuries).
Only two of those players can be activated later in the season. Cockrell will not return, though, and Williams is also expected to be out for the season.
