Inter draw 1-1 with Corinthians and miss chance to go top

Internacional missed a chance to go top of Brazil's Serie A on Sunday when they could only draw 1-1 at Corinthians.

The Porto Alegre side, who began the day two points behind league leaders Sao Paulo, went ahead a minute before halftime when Leandro Damiao sidefooted home a shot at the far post.

The former Brazil center forward looked offside but Inter were incapable of capitalizing on their luck and Douglas nodded home an equalizer from a meter out after a header came off the bar five minutes into the second half.

The result means Inter ended the day a point behind Sao Paulo in second place in the league table, while Corinthians are in seventh, 17 off the lead.
