The Indiana Pacers and centre Myles Turner are reportedly closing in on a contract extension before Monday's deadline to get one done, and the deal could pay the 22-year-old in the neighbourhood of $20 million per season.

The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Monday that the sides have actually reached agreement on a four-year, $80 million contract, while ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported no deal is in place but the expectation is one in the four-year, $70 million-plus range will be done by the 6 p.m. ET deadline.

Monday at 6 p.m. ET is the deadline for players entering their fourth season to sign a contract extension and avoid becoming a restricted free agent next offseason.

Turner, 22, has averaged 12.7 points, 1.8 blocks and 6.5 rebounds in his three-year career, shooting 49.8 per cent from the field in 206 career games.

His best season was the 2016-17 campaign when averaged 14.5 points, 2.1 blocks and 7.3 rebounds in 81 games -- all the best marks of his career. He also shot a career-best 51.1 per cent from the field that season.

He missed seven games with a concussion and another nine with an elbow injury last season.
