A well-worked goal from Luciano gave Fluminense a 1-0 Serie A win over Atletico Mineiro on Sunday which helped to keep their Copa Libertadores qualification hopes alive.
Fabio Santos missed a penalty for the visitors two minutes into the second half and Fluminense took advantage of the let-off when Luciano ended a nice counterattack 15 minutes later.
Fluminense were down to 10 men when Matheus Alessandro was sent off eight minutes from time but they held on to secure the win. The result kept alive their hopes of a top-six spot - and a place in next year’s Copa Libertadores.
