India's woman boxing icon Mary Kom called on top actor Rajinikanth at his residence here Friday.

"It was nice and so surprise meeting with @rajinikanth the legend superstar #Hollywood #Kollywood," Kom, a five-time world champion and Olympic bronze medal winner tweeted.

Kom, a recipient of Padma Bhushan and a Rajya Sabha MP, posted pictures with the actor in a boxing pose on her Twitter handle. She was here to participate in an event held by Latha Rajinikanth, sources said.

She was Thursday named brand ambassador of the upcoming International Boxing Association's (AIBA) women's world boxing championships, to be held between November 15-24 at Delhi.

The trailer of Rajinikanth's upcoming mega budget film '2.0,' directed by Shankar is slated for release on Saturday.
