India has come a long way since Mumbai terror attack 10 years ago: Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba tells PTI.
The National Basketball Association (or NBA) has inaugurated a new training center in Saly, Senegal. NBA has a plan to develop a new generation of African players for the league.
According to the NBA officials reported by Reuters, the facility featuring a weight room, two indoor courts alongside educational facilities and dormitories will be the primary training location for male and female prospects from across the continent. The center is said to be a part of NBA Academy Africa, which has witnessed three of its graduates commit to playing at Division 1 colleges in the U.S. since it opened last year.
"We are thrilled to open this world-class new venue in Saly for NBA Academy Africa prospects," said Amadou Gallo Fall, the Vice President and Managing Director for NBA Africa.
According to Amadou Gallo Fall, the newly founded facility will endow the aspiring players from across the continent with state-of-the-art courts and training equipment under the tutelage of NBA Africa's coaches and world-class academic staff. The enabling milieu and all the facilities is aimed to give a holistic approach to the development of the players so that they achieve success on and off the court.
Since October 2016, NBA Academies have been unveiled in multiple nations like India, Australia, Mexico and various cities in China.
