Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo combined for 50 points as the host Miami Heat defeated the Houston Rockets 120-113 on Monday night. Adebayo scored 22 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds as Miami returned home after a two-week road trip. Herro added 28 points on 10-for-20 shooting. It was a bounce-back game for Herro, who shot 4-for-17 in his previous game at Phoenix on Friday.

Stars silence Wild to end three-game skid

Matt Murray made 23 saves in his season debut and recorded his first NHL shutout in his fourth career start to help the Dallas Stars to a 4-0 win over the Minnesota Wild on Monday night in St. Paul, Minn. Murray was recalled from Texas of the American Hockey League last Tuesday and started over Scott Wedgewood, who had manned the crease the previous 11 games. Dallas has also been without No. 1 goalie Jake Oettinger since he sustained a lower-body injury on Dec. 15.

Pacers survive Celtics but lose Tyrese Haliburton to injury

Benedict Mathurin made two free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to give the Indiana Pacers a 133-131 victory over the Boston Celtics on Monday night in Indianapolis. The game was tied with 2 seconds to play when Indiana inbounded the ball to Mathurin and he was fouled by Kristaps Porzingis during a 3-point attempt. After making two free throws, Mathurin intentionally missed the third. Boston rebounded the miss and called timeout with 0.3 to play. Luke Kornet's tip-in at the buzzer would have tied the game, but the ball hit the rim and bounced out.

Despite free-throw woes, Thunder get past Wizards

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 32 points while rookie Chet Holmgren added 31 to lift the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 136-128 win over the Washington Wizards on Monday in Washington, D.C. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Thunder while Washington's losing streak stretched to five.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll dismisses retirement rumors

Rumors swirled before the Seattle Seahawks' season-ending win on Sunday that longtime head coach Pete Carroll was considering retirement. On his regular Monday appearance on Seattle Sports 710, Carroll put those rumors to rest.
