The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced a groundbreaking prize purse of USD 11.25 million for the 2024 T20 World Cup on Monday. The champions will pocket an unprecedented USD 2.45 million.

Runners-up will earn at least USD 1.28 million, while the semi-finalists will receive USD 787,500 each. Previous champions England received USD 1.6 million in 2022 from a total prize pool of USD 5.6 million.

According to an official ICC statement, the tournament winners will be awarded the highest prize money in history on June 29 at Kensington Oval in Barbados. Teams in lower positions will also receive financial rewards, with USD 382,500 guaranteed for those exiting at the Super 8s stage.

The format involves 40 initial matches, followed by Super 8s and semi-finals in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, culminating in the final in Barbados. ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice described the event as ‘historic in many ways’ and anticipated it would captivate hundreds of millions of fans worldwide.
